IP 1000® is used in applications where a flexible rubber coated surface is needed to resist abrasion, impact and corrosion over metal, fiberglass or masonry surfaces.

IP 1000®

IP 1000® was invented by Industrial Polymers in 1995 as a spray-on truck bed liner product for light duty pick-up trucks. It is a tough, thick, urethane polymer coating, which is flexible and protects surfaces from day to day wear and tear, weathering, corrosion and abrasion. Rigorous laboratory testing has independently proved its status as the best spray liner. In short, IP1000®’s industrial polymer technology means can withstand much higher levels of extreme use without adverse effect. 

The difference between IP1000® and other brands is that the higher tensile and tear strength mean it offers much better protection. Furthermore, this strength can be further improved by mixing with sand and or aluminum oxide grit additives to provide an aggressive nonskid surface or a Kevlar® fibre additive to improve cut and tear resistance. This is recommended for heavy-duty/hard use trucks and high impact areas.

Based on the strength tests it provides a tough high build (4600 psi tensile strength) protective coating, applied to the recommended thickness of approximately 2.5-3mm. However, if required, it can be sprayed thicker for an additional cost. IP1000 can also be sprayed over rails and topcaps giving added protection from side loading and chafing damage from hard tops and canopies. It is recommended for use on truck beds, heavy equipment, marine or industrial applications.

IP 1000® is packaged in convenient one gallon containers complete with 1 quart activator and your choice of 18 color options. It also is a low V.O.C. coating (contains less than 3 pounds per gallon VOC content) offering good UV and chemical resistance.

IP CRX

IP CRX invented by Industrial Polymers in 2010 is the first of its kind chemical resistant spray-on rubber coating for applications where high concentrations of Acids and Alkali are present in the environment.  It provides excellent resistance to Chlorinated Water, Nitric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sulfuric Acid, Clorox and Ammonia. IP EPIC

IP EPIC is a high performance urethane elastomeric texture coating, specifically designed for high build applications, and is proven to be over 500% stronger than the nearest competitor.
This product is especially formulated to have high tensile and tear resistance with outstanding abrasion resistance for extreme durability.
When fully cured, IP EPIC forms an extremely tough, abrasive resistant rubber coating, especially well-suited for applications requiring protection from impact, abrasion, or corrosion on metal, wood or concrete surfaces. It can also be mixed with a Kevlar fibre additive to provide an improved cut and tear resistance.  IP EPIC textured surfaces provide excellent non-slip surfaces in both wet and dry environments. 

Strength tests show IP EPIC provides a tough high build (7360psi tensile strength) and a hardness of 92 Shore A. is packaged in convenient one gallon containers complete with 1 quart activator and your choice of 18 color options. It also is a low V.O.C. coating (contains less than 3 pounds per gallon VOC content) offering good UV and chemical resistance.

PRIMER

We have developed a line of primers to allow superior adhesion with the urethane to the existing surface. With the proper primer you can be confident of adhesion whether it be wood, metal, steel, foams, piping, painted surfaces etc.

Urethane primers are used to promote the bonding and adhesion of urethanes to surfaces. Most urethanes should be applied over a prepared primed surface for optimal results. We have developed special primers for specific application. Our primers range in applications for concrete, metal, unpainted metal, as a tie coat to fiberglass parts, flooring, roof decking, pipeline, tank, and wood. Our primer’s have been used in the application of IP products for over 20 years. These primers can be applied with brush, rollers, dipped or sprayed with a low pressure sprayer. Any place adhesion to pre painted metal is desired.

Primer 450 is a two component primer used to increase the adhesion of urethane elastomers to other elastomeric compounds or as a tie coat to some metal surfaces. Primer 450 cures at ambient temperatures and provides a strong bond that in many cases exceeds the strength of the elastomer. This primer may be applied by spraying, brushing or dipping. In service at ambient temperatures it is resistant to fresh and salt water, many chemicals and other environmental conditions.

Primer 450 is a two component urethane primer used to increase adhesion of urethanes to painted metal surfaces, wood, (some plastic surfaces) or concrete. Primer 450 is required when installing our IP products spray on truck bed liner product into cargo bed area of light duty trucks or other painted metal surfaces. Primer 450 is also used as a bonding agent between new and old urethane coatings. It is applied by spraying, brushing or roller application. For best results, surface should be cleaned, abraded and wiped with solvent prior to Primer 450 application. When recoating spray-on truck bed liners, Primer 450 must be used to bond new truck bed liner coating over existing spray-on truck bed liners. Cure time depends on temperature and relative humidity, Mix ratio 1:1 by volume, brush, roller or spray-on application.

Both primer components should be at room temperature before mixing. Primer 450 is a two component material and equal amounts by volume of component A and component B must be mixed together until well blended. Once mixed, the primer will remain usable for two hours.

Standard techniques used in airless paint spray work well with Primer 450. A proper size spray tip should be adjusted to obtain an even spray pattern at the lowest pressure. The primer should be applied in thin wet coat beginning at the bottom of the item being primed. Runs should be avoided and excess primer should be wiped or brushed from the surface. Poor adhesion of the urethane elastomers to the metal will occur if the primer is applied too heavy. When applying the primer to an elastomeric substrate that has been roughened, the primer should be scrubbed into the surface with a stiff brush in order to achieve intimate contact with the elastomer. An electric drill and wire brush can also be used to prepare the old elastomer surface to a "suede appearance".

Substrates must be properly prepared before primer is applied. For elastomeric substrates, loose elastomer must be cut away and all traces of oil, grease or dirt must be removed with a detergent or solvent. The surface must then be buffed with a wire wheel or very course sandpaper to produce a "suede-like" texture. Buffing too quickly or with too much pressure will produce heat and produce an unacceptable sticky surface. All edges or joints should be tapered or "feathered". When Primer 450 is used as a tie coat between urethane top coats the first coat of primer should dry 30 minutes before top coat or other urethanes and urethane base coats are applied.

Coverage obtained with Primer 450 will depend on the porosity or roughness of the substrate being primed. Typical coverage will range from 100 to 400 square feet per gallon. The dry film thickness when priming smooth substrates should be approximately one mil per coat. Overspray and waste must be taken into account when estimating the quantity of material required or a particular job.

Primer 450 and Primer 460 SPX dries to a slightly tacky film in approximately 30 minutes at room temperature at which time urethane elastomers may be applied. If Primer 450 is to be cast and heat cured, the primer should be allowed to dry for one hour to allow all solvents to evaporate.

Primer 450 may be applied with a brush or with a standard airless spray equipment having a minimum air fluid pressure ratio of 15:1. Fluid pressures of 1,500 psi or less will provide a good spray pattern with a .013 to .020 inch orifice spray tip. The spray machine should be equipped with Teflon or nylon hose and a 100-mesh outlet filter. A tip filter may be required for small tips. The spray should be conductive and the spray machine should be grounded to an earth ground when spraying. Note: Equipment must be clean when used to spray primer. Contaminates such as oil or grease in the spray equipment will interfere with the primer bond. Equipment should be flushed with M.E.K. before using equipment to spray primer.

Primer 460 SPX is a two-component primer used to increase the adhesion of urethane elastomers to other elastomeric compounds or as a tie coat to fiberglass gel coats, fiberglass parts and some metal surfaces. Primer 460 SPX cures at ambient temperatures and provides strong bond that in many cases exceeds the strength of the elastomer. The primer may be applied by spraying, brushing or dipping. In service at ambient temperatures it is resistant to fresh and salt water, many chemicals and environmental conditions.

TOP COAT

This product series is very versatile in that it will work with several of our other product lines. It is a two component aliphatic urethane coating offering resistance to corrosion, abrasion, chemicals, and impact and rated with the highest of commercially available coatings. This product can be applied by spraying with conventional airless or electrostatic applicators or maybe brushed on to achieve an excellent gloss and colour retention for exterior surfaces. These coatings have been very successful over a urethane base coat in water parks, on aircraft, railroad cars, ships, storage tanks, metal bridges, piping, and structural steel, and on wood, concrete, and some plastics, including vinyl. The finish is flexible with the use of plasticizers, so it is not subject to becoming brittle with age. The Topcoat CRX is specifically designed for environments requiring resistance to high acid and alkali conditions.

TopCoat #6 is an aliphatic two-component polyurethane clear coat that is formulated for exterior applications over flexible polyurethane or polyurea substrates. In addition, TopCoat #6 and has excellent long term gloss and color retention. TopCoat #6 may be used in combination with high build for exterior or interior industrial maintenance and product finishing where corrosion resistance and excellent long term protection are important. The flexibility of TopCoat #6 is inherent in the basic polymer and not achieved by the use of plasticizers; therefore, the coatings are not subject to embrittlement with age.

TopCoat #9 is an aliphatic two-component polyurethane clear coat that is formulated for exterior applications over flexible polyurethane or polyurea substrates. In addition, TopCoat #9 and has excellent long term gloss and color retention. TopCoat #9 may be used in combination with high build for exterior or interior industrial maintenance and product finishing where corrosion resistance and excellent long term protection are important. The flexibility of TopCoat #9 is inherent in the basic polymer and not achieved by the use of plasticizers; therefore, the coatings are not subject to embrittlement with age.

TopCoat CRX is a high performance urethane elastomeric coating, specifically designed for environments that require resistance to high acid and alkali conditions. When fully cured, TopCoat CRX forms an extremely tough, abrasive resistant rubber coating, especially well-suited for applications requiring protection from impact, abrasion, or corrosion on metal, wood or concrete surfaces. TopCoat CRX surfaces provide an excellent non-slip surface in both wet and dry environment.

TopCoat CRX has been successful at temperatures up to 180˚F. Under wet or humid conditions at elevated temperatures TopCoat CRX is superior to most other urethanes. TopCoat CRX still remains flexible at temperatures as low as -27˚F ASTM D 746.

TopCoat CRX has excellent chemical resistance. Resistance to most water Acid and Alkali at room temperature is excellent, but resistance to organic solvents is generally poor.

PIGMENT

Standard production colour of IP products is clear amber; IP series colour pigments must be purchased separately and added at time of use. We offer a selection of 18 colours in pre measured 4 ounce colour tubes. If you wish to apply this product in white it must be top coated with our Top Coat Number 6 product. IP Products are applied much thicker than ordinary paint finishes. When applying IP 1000 in white we also recommend using our Top Coat Number 6 product with white IP series colour pigment and top coating over the IP 1000. White IP1000 without top coating will eventually yellow in outdoor applications from long term UV exposure or become stained by air pollutants, chemicals or leaves which are allowed to sit for long periods of time in a truck bed liner
